The search hunt for 45 missing people is still on in Himachal Pradesh aftermath of cloudbursts in three districts.
A massive rescue operation is underway, with a total of 410 rescuers from various teams, including the Army, NDRF, ITBP, SDRF, CISF, police, and home guards, involved in the hunt. The rescuers are aided by drones, which are being used to scour the affected areas for any signs of survivors.
Despite the challenges, there are some glimmers of hope. Around 300 people stranded near Shrikhand Mahadev in Kullu are safe, 25 tourists in Malana are being well looked after by locals, according to Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena. These small mercies offer some comfort amidst the larger tragedy.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced an immediate relief package for the victims, including Rs 50,000 in aid, Rs 5,000 monthly rent assistance for three months, and provisions for gas, food, and essential items. This announcement comes as the state grapples with the aftermath of the devastating flash floods.
The flash floods have claimed eight lives so far, with over 30 people still missing in Samej village, Rampur. The search and rescue operation continues with no success yet, leaving families and loved ones in a state of uncertainty.
