Security was tightened on Wednesday and a thorough search was carried out at the Ludhiana court complex and a school in Moga after both locations received bomb threat emails, the police said.
The entire court complex in Ludhiana was sealed and entry was restricted. Bomb disposal and dog squads, along with police teams, were deployed to conduct an extensive search of the premises.
According to officials, all necessary steps are being taken to check the credibility of the threat and ensure public safety.
President of the Ludhiana District Bar Association Vipan Saggar said that as a precaution and to rule out any risk, “we have declared ‘no work’ today.”
In Moga, police conducted a detailed search of a school after it received a bomb threat email.
Moga Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh said the school principal informed the police about the email, after which students were sent home. “We are checking the school premises. The school was evacuated and the children have gone home,” he said.
About a week ago, court complexes in Ferozepur and Ropar were evacuated after receiving bomb threat emails, which were later found to be hoaxes. Last month, some schools in Patiala and Jalandhar also received similar threat emails, which too turned out to be hoaxes.
