A search operation was carried out at the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday after court authorities received a bomb threat via email, officials said.
Soon after the information was received, teams from the bomb squad, dog squad and police rushed to the court premises. No explosive material was found anywhere inside the complex, officials added.
As a precaution, security at the High Court was strengthened and a strict vigil is being maintained, officials said. Police confirmed the incident and said efforts are underway to trace the origin of the threatening email. Further investigation is in progress.
A similar threat was also received by court authorities in Odisha on Thursday. The sender threatened to cause damage to district courts in Cuttack, Sambalpur and Deogarh.
Officials said the Himachal Pradesh High Court had received similar threat emails in June last year as well. The email claimed that human suicide bombers carrying improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were present at the High Court, officials said.
However, the threat later turned out to be false, as nothing suspicious was found during the search, they added.
