Bomb threats targeting Dera Sachkhand Ballan and two schools in Jalandhar were received on Saturday, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the sect headquarters.
While the threatening emails were sent to the schools, the content of the messages directly threatened the Dera Ballan.
Police teams immediately carried out security checks at the school premises and deployed bomb disposal squads. Since it was a holiday, no students were present in the schools.
The Prime Minister is set to visit Dera Ballan on Sunday to attend events marking Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Police officials said the threat emails were being verified and that investigations were ongoing.
The incident follows similar threats received by several schools in Chandigarh on Wednesday, where thorough checks found nothing suspicious.
Earlier, similar threat messages were received in schools of Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Patiala in Punjab, as well as Ambala in Haryana. All of them later turned out to be hoaxes.
