An aerial object, believed to be a Pakistani drone, was detected by troops at forward positions in Tarore village of the Vijaypur area in Samba late on Friday night.

Security forces on Saturday launched a comprehensive search operation along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s twin districts of Samba and Kathua following the detection of suspected Pakistani drone movement, officials said.

An aerial object, believed to be a Pakistani drone, was detected by troops at forward positions in Tarore village of the Vijaypur area in Samba late on Friday night. This triggered counter-drone measures, they said.

The drone is believed to have retreated across the IB into Pakistan.

Meanwhile, a second drone was spotted hovering over Chak Nalua village in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on Friday evening, officials said.

Alerted by the suspected flying objects, troops immediately launched search operations at both drone sighting locations to trace any possible payload or evidence linked to the activity.

The searches at both places are ongoing, with security forces conducting combing operations along the IB.

Surveillance along the international border has also been intensified in view of repeated drone activities, the officials added.
