Security forces in Jharkhand achieved a significant success when they discovered and destroyed a large Maoist camp intended for the accommodation of about 100 people during their special operation in West Singhbhum forests on Thursday.
The forces also recovered explosives and several items that were being used by the Maoists. Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, Ashutosh Shekhar stated that an old Naxalite camp in the forested and hilly area around Tonto police station area, Vanagram Jimki Ikir and Gulgulchha, of West Singhbhum, in which arrangements for 95 people to stay was made, has been demolished by the security forces.
From 10 October 2023, a joint operation is being conducted in villages Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilaybeda, border areas of Boypaissang, Katamba, Bayhatu, Boroy, Lemsadih under Goilkera police station and villages Husipi, Rajabasa, Tumbahaka, Regada, Patataurab, Goburu under Tonto police station, has been started in the border area of Luiya.
Top leaders of the banned CPI(Maoist) organisation Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochhu, Chaman Kande, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angriya, Ashwin along with their squad members are said to be in the Kolhan area for destructive activity.
A joint operation team of 11 BN teams has been formed including the West Singhbhum Police, Cobra 209 BN, 203 BN, 205 BN, Jharkhand Jaguar and CRPF 60 BN, 197 BN, 157 BN, 174 BN, 193 BN, 134 BN, 26 BN, 190 BN and search operation is being carried out continuously in the area.
The items recovered during the operation include IED prepared with explosive (2 kg)-09, Cordtex Wire-200 Metre, Electrical wire-600 metres, Series (for IED preparation)-12, Pistol Bag-01, Battery (1.5V)-03, Torch Battery-08, Banner (White) 01, Wooden Weapon-01, Pitthu Bag Buckle-11, Black Track Suit-03 Pairs along with several other items.
