The forces in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a multi-domain security apparatus ahead of the 79th Independence Day. Security vigil has been intensified across the international border in Jammu and along the LoC in the Kashmir Valley ahead of the August 15 celebrations, an official said.

The three-tier security grid aims to thwart any infiltration along the IB and LoC from across the border, they added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been deployed in Jammu and Srinagar cities, with checking and frisking intensified at the entry and exit points in every district and on key roads.

Officials also said that the deployment of the police and central paramilitary forces along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway has been strengthened.

Additional Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Sandeep Bhat, said, “Given the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow, we have implemented strict security measures across the district, from national highways to hilly areas like Basantgarh and Latti. CRPF and CISF personnel are deployed, with sniffer dogs and anti-sabotage checks in place. Security along the highway is on high alert.”

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have also issued a security advisory in the two sensitive border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
