Tight security arrangements have been put in place across Jammu and Kashmir as the nation marks the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. Security around key installations, vital areas, the International Border (IB), and the Line of Control (LoC) has been significantly strengthened amid intelligence inputs about possible terror threats in the Union Territory.

Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security and intelligence agencies, are working in close coordination to prevent any attempt to disrupt law and order, particularly in the Kashmir Valley.

Nakas have been established at several locations while frisking and surprise checks are being carried out by security forces, officials said.

It may be recalled that on the intervening night of May 6-7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor – precision airstrikes targeting terror infrastructure inside Pakistan – after terrorists killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025.

Besides internal security, heightened measures have also been enforced along the border areas, with troops stationed there asked to maintain strict vigil to prevent any militant infiltration or activity near the IB.

The brief four-day India-Pakistan conflict that followed Operation Sindoor ended on May 10, 2025, after the directors general of Military Operations from both sides agreed to a ceasefire.
