Security has been significantly strengthened across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in and around the summer capital, Srinagar, ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified vehicle checks at entry points into Srinagar from various districts. Numerous 'nakas' (checkpoints) have been established across the city, while heightened security is being maintained at key installations and critical infrastructure.
In addition, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in coordination with other security agencies, has stepped up checks around the main venue, Bakshi Stadium.
While security forces are carrying out routine operations in preparation for Republic Day, Srinagar is witnessing a massive influx of tourists following recent snowfall.
Neha, 19, a second-year college student from New Delhi, expressed satisfaction with the overall security arrangements in Kashmir. “My family and I have come here for the first time, and we are really enjoying it,” she said.
The Rohini resident, along with her siblings, was seen taking photographs at the historic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, while other family members relaxed at the recently inaugurated Amira Kadal pedestrian bridge.
