As many as seven people were killed after an SUV they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, officials informed on Thursday.
The accident took place near Chhatrund on the Masrund-Hamal route when the driver of the Mahindra Bolero reportedly lost control, and the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge.
According to the latest information, all seven occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. The victims included six passengers — three women and three men — along with the driver.
Reports said the victims were returning home after attending a religious ceremony when the accident occurred.
Shortly after the incident, police personnel, along with district administration officials and local residents, rushed to the spot and launched relief and rescue operations.
The bodies were retrieved from the gorge, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
