Seven security personnel suffered injuries in Arunachal Pradesh as supporters of rival political candidates clashed in the West Kameng district, raising apprehensions about the upcoming elections on Saturday.
The violence erupted in Kalaktang and Tenga, casting a long shadow over the polls slated for April 19.
According to reports, supporters of incumbent MLA Dorjee Karma Wangdi and BJP candidate Tseten Chombay engaged in stone-pelting in Kalaktang, resulting in damage to property.
Accusations flew thick and fast, with both sides claiming their opponents initiated the hostilities. Similar incidents were reported in Tenga, where BJP candidate's supporters allegedly targeted the residence of rival candidate Tenzin Glow.
Maintaining a stoic silence, authorities have yet to comment on the events or announce any arrests. Investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators.
