The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) received yet another threatening email to blow up the Golden Temple on Friday night. This is the eighth such threat since July 14.
Security around the Sikh shrine has been intensified. Police force has been deployed outside the temple and police officers in plainclothes are patrolling the complex to avert any untoward incident.
Akal Takht’s officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj questioned the failure of central and state agencies to identify the perpetrators so far.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said investigations are in progress. A suspect, Shubham Dubey, is currently being questioned. “Technical analysis in such cases takes time. The suspects will be identified soon,” he said.
