Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to chair a high-level security meeting in Jammu today after reviewing forward areas, particularly Border Security Force (BSF) posts at Bobia and Gurnam along the International Border on Friday, officials said.
The Home Minister’s packed schedule centres on assessing the Union Territory’s security landscape and ongoing developmental works in the region.
His visit comes as security forces continue counter-terror operations in Kishtwar and neighbouring districts, where at least three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were gunned down in separate firefights this week.
The visit is seen as significant amid the Centre’s sustained efforts to further strengthen security mechanisms and accelerate infrastructure and welfare projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
During his stay, Shah will hold a series of meetings with senior security officials, representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jammu and Kashmir administration officers, police, intelligence agencies, and central armed police forces.
The discussions are expected to focus on counter-terrorism operations, border management, infiltration attempts, and improved coordination among security agencies to maintain peace and stability.
Shah will also chair a separate review meeting to assess the progress of key developmental projects underway in the Jammu region, covering the implementation of flagship schemes and ongoing public welfare initiatives.
He will visit the BSF’s Bobia and Gurnam Border Outposts to evaluate the ground situation along the International Border and interact with BSF personnel, commending their role in maintaining vigilance under challenging conditions.
The Home Minister will also meet the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the nation.
During the interaction, Shah will hand over appointment letters to eligible family members under the government’s compassionate employment policy, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes.
