Shiv Sena workers vandalised a hotel in Mumbai’s Khar area on Sunday after a video of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra mocking Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde went viral on social media, the police confirmed.
The incident took place at Hotel Unicontinental, where Kamra’s show was filmed. The protesters, reportedly enraged by Kamra’s use of the term ‘gaddar’ (traitor) in his act, ransacked the premises and demanded that an FIR be lodged against the comedian.
A police official stated that the workers stormed into the auditorium of the hotel after the clip of Kamra’s jibe against Shinde gained traction online.
The video was also shared on X by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who captioned it, “Kunal Ka Kamal.”
During the performance, Kamra ridiculed Shinde using a modified version of a song from the Hindi film “Dil To Pagal Hai”, drawing laughter from the audience.
Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske issued a strong warning to Kamra, stating that he would be pursued across the country by party workers.

“You will be forced to flee India,” he said in a video message.
Labelling Kamra a “contract comedian”, Mhaske remarked that the satirist had erred by provoking Shinde.
“You should not have stepped on the tail of a snake. Once the fangs are out, there will be dire consequences,” he warned.
The Thane MP further alleged that Kamra had received financial backing from Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and was delibeately targeting Shinde.
Echoing similar sentiments, Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel vowed to “show Kamra his level” and called for an apology from the comedian.
In response, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray condemned the attack on the hotel, denouncing it as an act of cowardice.
Taking to X, Thackeray wrote, “Mindhe’s coward gang breaks the comedy show stage where comedian @kunalkamra88 put out a song on Eknath Mindhe, which was 100 per cent true. Only an insecure coward would react to a song by someone.”
He also questioned the state’s law and order situation, stating, “Another attempt to undermine the CM and Home Minister by Eknath Mindhe.”
