Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and the state Congress president, DK Shivakumar, is facing flak from within his party after he shared an invitation for a Mahashivratri event hosted by Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Foundation.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary PV Mohan expressed his disappointment in a post on the social media platform X, stating that Shivakumar’s action 'damages the party's core'.
To add to the problems, at the event on Wednesday, Shivakumar also shared the stage alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Mahashivratri event, organised by Isha Foundation, is a night-long festival that includes musical performances and meditations by the spiritual leader.
In his post, tagging Shivakumar, PV Mohan asked him, how could he thank someone who mocked Rahul Gandhi, while “serving as a president of a secular party”.

Mohan was referring to a thank-you note posted by Shivakumar for being invited to Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore to celebrate Maha Shivaratri.
Shivakumar, who later shared on the social media platform about his experience at Isha Yoga Center, had posted a picture of the invitation, along with a “thank you” to Sadhguru.
To clarify his comment, Mohan told the media: “I am not criticising anybody, I was just expressing my opinion. Both Isha Foundation and Jaggi Vasudev’s ideologies align with that of BJP and RSS. We are totally against RSS ideologies and Rahul has repeatedly mentioned that whoever follows RSS ideologies can leave the party.”
He also cleared that he had no objections to Shivakumar visiting temples, as the KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister, his actions should better reflect the party’s values.
He reminded how the party has always opposed RSS ideologies, and when party workers attended events organized by the RSS, it only served to mislead them.
Shivakumar, on the other hand, refuted all BJP ties and said that he was born a Congressman, but is Hindu at heart.
The deputy CM was responding to questions posed by the media regarding his attendance at Maha Kumbh, as well as visits to various temples in the recent past.
