JKNC Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed on Monday welcomed India and Pakistan’s agreement on cessation of hostilities after soaring tensions had reached their pivot following the Pahalgam attack.
He demanded jobs for the family members of those killed in the cross-border shelling and mentioned the houses destroyed in the Rajouri and Poonch areas.
The national conference MP said the situation along the border areas and LoC was getting better, while urging the administration to extend all necessary support for the affected families.
“The family members of those who lost their lives should be given jobs. Houses have been damaged in Rajouri and Poonch. The administration should provide necessary help to the people. Now the situation is getting better,” he told reporters here.
While the peace on the borders is maintained, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both nations are engaging in talks today.
Meanwhile, the Indian armed forces also conducted a joint press briefing in New Delhi on Sunday, which consisted of Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai (Director General Military Operations), Vice Admiral A N Pramod (Director General Naval Operations), and Air Marshal A K Bharti (Director General Air Operations).
They said India struck 11 airbases inside Pakistan and inflicted significant damage on their military capabilities.
The officials jointly announced the success of “Operation Sindoor”—a” cross-border counter-terror operation aimed at neutralising terror infrastructure inside Pakistan.
The tensions soared between the arch-rival nations after terrorists gunned down 26 people on April 22.
