Six members of a family were killed in a tragic road accident after their car collided with a dumper truck near Hemasar Phatak in the Sridungargarh area of Rajasthan’s Bikaner district on Monday. A two-and-a-half-year-old child miraculously survived the mishap and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to police, all the deceased were travelling in the car and belonged to the Fatehabad area of Haryana. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) B.L. Meena said the victims were family members of Om Prakash Bishnoi and were returning after visiting the samadhi of Guru Jambheshwar Bhagwan at Muqaam in Bikaner district.
“The deceased include two women, one man, and three children,” Meena said.
Bikaner Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhwa described the incident as extremely tragic. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the car may have dozed off, leading to the collision. “However, all aspects are being investigated to determine the exact cause of the accident,” he added.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police, administrative officials, and local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were taken to the Sridungargarh Sub-District Hospital, where doctors declared six people dead after examination.

The bodies have been kept in the hospital mortuary, and the next of kin have been informed, police said.
Meanwhile, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal expressed grief over the incident. In a post on social media, he condoled the loss of lives in multiple road accidents in the region and prayed for peace for the deceased and speedy recovery of the injured.
The incident adds to a series of recent road accidents in the region. In May, three people were killed and 13 others injured in a separate collision in Nokha town of Bikaner district, when a Tempo Traveller minibus returning from a religious trip crashed head-on with a truck on Nagaur Road.
Police have registered a case in connection with the mishap, and further investigation is underway.
