The sixth batch of the 2026 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp in the early morning hours on Tuesday under tight security arrangements. The Yatra, which started on Friday, has continued smoothly in the Kashmir Valley after the first and second batches headed to the base camps in Pahalgam and Baltal.
According to the Zonal Police Control Room, Jammu, a total of 8,815 pilgrims departed in 363 vehicles for the twin base camps of Baltal and Nunwan.
Approximately 3,989 pilgrims travelling in 181 vehicles left for the Baltal base camp, while another 4,826 pilgrims in 182 vehicles departed for Pahalgam. The pilgrims include 5,831 men, 2,193 women, 30 children, 598 sadhus, 131 sadhvis, one sadhu child, and 31 foreign male devotees.
The convoy comprises 172 buses, 58 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 130 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and three two-wheelers.
The first convoy meant to carry the pilgrims on their journey through Baltal left at 3:35 am, followed by the Pahalgam convoy, which departed from the base camp at 4:08 a.m., under multi-layer security arrangements.
After entering Ramban district via the Nashri Tunnel, the Baltal-bound pilgrims are scheduled to halt at Lambar Ground, Banihal, where breakfast and other basic facilities have been arranged.
Meanwhile, pilgrims travelling towards the Pahalgam route will stop at the Chanderkoot Langar sites in Ramban for breakfast before continuing their onwards journey to south Kashmir.
The administration has made all necessary arrangements, including health, medical, and convenience facilities, to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
The pilgrimage began on Thursday. Authorities expect a massive rush this year, with improved facilities and security arrangements.
