Farmer union Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) Haryana will be protesting at the Khatkar toll plaza in Jind district on February 2, letting vehicles pass toll-free, according to a statement on Friday.
This demonstration is in response to the arbitrary actions of toll companies, which, despite collecting toll charges, fail to provide proper facilities.
"The toll companies charge hefty fees but do not provide any facilities. The government, instead of safeguarding the public interest, is allowing these companies to exploit people and fill their own pockets," the statement read.
The SKM has also demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the murder of Mohammad Yusuf, who was falsely accused of cow smuggling and killed by cow vigilantes.
The morcha is further protesting the arrests of youths involved in the Khedar Thermal protest and the summons issued to farmers in connection with the Kheri Chopta agitation.
On February 8 and 9, SKM Haryana leaders will submit memorandums to all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, urging them to oppose the new agricultural market policy and push for the resolution of pending issues affecting farmers.
