The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department organised Christmas celebrations, and festivities were organised at a historic church in Gulmarg, displaying the region’s communal harmony.

Local Christians, along with visitors from different parts of the country, celebrated the festival organised by the Department, with many anticipating a massive rush on New Year’s Eve.

Every year, locals and domestic and international travellers head to Gulmarg to celebrate the festivities marking the New Year with music and a cultural festival. Officials present at the said special prayers were offered by the devotees, as attendees celebrated moments of joy and peace.

Charm to celebrations was added by the recent snowfall in the Kashmir Valley, where almost all the hill stations received light to moderate snowfall, transforming landscapes, especially tourist hotspots Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, into a winter wonderland.

These festivities are part of the department’s broader campaign to revive the tourism industry, which suffered significant losses after the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The celebrations, besides the main attraction of Gulmarg, are being held at the Tourist Reception Centre in Jammu and the summer capital, Srinagar.

Major tourist locations, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and Srinagar, are being illuminated and beautified for the festive season.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah extended greetings, highlighting the themes of peace, love, and harmony.
