Software engineer nabbed as Golden Temple gets bomb threat again
The police said the suspect, Shubham Dubey of Faridabad, was associated with multiple software firms and had used a subsidiary firm of a US-based software company to send the emails

The Amritsar Police have detained a software engineer in connection with the bomb threats on blowing up the Golden Temple received by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in the past four days. The suspect has been identified as Shubham Dubey of Faridabad.
Terming it as a “partial success”, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Dubey has been taken into custody for questioning. His laptop and mobile phones have been seized and sent for forensic examination. Bhullar said Dubey was associated with multiple software companies and a subsidiary firm of a US-based software company was used to send the emails. He said the police had got vital leads in the case and police teams had been dispatched to places outside the state for further investigations.
Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa sought swift action by central and state security agencies to identify and nab the culprits. State Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also expressed concern over the string of bomb threats.

Meanwhile, the SGPC received the sixth email on Friday, threatening to blow up the Golden Temple. Police security has been intensified in and around the Golden Temple. Central agencies are also part of the investigations.
Senior police officers led by the Police Commissioner and AAP MLAs Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Ajay Gupta held a meeting with SGPC officials. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also took stock of the situation at a meeting with senior police officers.
In a message on his social media handle, Mann said, “We will not allow any compromise on the security of Punjab. Our security agencies and the Punjab Police are fully alert. I appeal to the people of Punjab to be cautious of rumours. All religious places are sacred for us. We are fully committed to their security. Anti-national and anti-social forces will be dealt with utmost strictness.”
Aujla wants central forces permanently deployed
Amritsar Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla sought permanent deployment of central forces around the shrine. He has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking his intervention. Responding to the demand, Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora said, “The Punjab Police are quite capable of ensuring security for the state, its people and the Golden Temple.”
