Reports suggest that during patrol duty, the vehicle overturned and rolled down approximately 50 feet into a gorge.


An army soldier lost his life while eight others received serious injuries when their vehicle met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, on Saturday.

According to official confirmation, the soldier lost his life when their vehicle turned turtle in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district during an operational movement.

Reports suggest that during patrol duty, the vehicle overturned and rolled down approximately 50 feet into a gorge.

“The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment, and their condition is stated to be stable,” said officials.

The identity of the deceased soldier could not be ascertained immediately.

In a post on X, Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said that on October 25 night, during an operational move in Kulgam district, an Indian Army vehicle skidded and overturned.

“Tragically, one soldier lost his life, while a few soldiers sustained injuries and were promptly evacuated for medical care. All soldiers are stable,” the Army said.

Reports indicate that among the injured are major-rank officers along with regular soldiers from 9 Rashtriya Rifles.

Following the mishap, security forces, with assistance from J&K Police, quickly rescued the injured personnel and shifted them to a nearby hospital.


The deceased soldier was identified as Sepoy Jeet Kumar.


Furthermore, as per reports, a case under various sections of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been filed at D.H. Pora Police Station, and an inquiry into the accident has been initiated.
