A soldier was killed in a gunfight in J&K’s Sopore area of the Baramulla district, hours after he was injured during the operation on Monday.
Security forces on Sunday launched a cordon and search operation in the Gujjar Pati, Zaloora area of Sopore after receiving credible intelligence inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
An official said that the operation began with a joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoning off the area. The search intensified after the fire was observed from inside a busted hideout.
