Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was today sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail in hotwar on a one-day judicial custody. The Prevention of Money Laundering court in Ranchi will announce its decision on Soren’s remand on Friday, February 2.

Soren was brought to the PMLA special court from ED’s Zonal office in Ranchi on Thursday, where the ED demanded a remand of 10 days. The arguments from both sides continued for about two hours. But, the court reserved its order on remand. At present Hemant Soren has been sent to judicial custody. He will spend Thursday night in jail.

After spending a night at the ED office Soren was taken to the court under tight security on Thursday. He was presented in the court of Judge Dinesh Rai. CRPF personnel had surrounded Hemant Soren's car from all sides on the court premises. After this, he came out of the car and greeted his supporters by waving his hands.

Incidentally, Soren has also approached the Supreme Court of India against Enforcement Directorate action and his arrest on January 31. ACGI SV Raju presented the case on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate.
