A 43-year-old specially abled woman was allegedly hacked to death with sharp-edged weapons in broad daylight on Monday in Faridkot's Mohalla Janian locality. She was alone at her residence when the incident took place.
Police and family members identified the victim as Neetu, wife of Pradeep Kalra, a government school teacher.
The murder came to light around 2 pm when Pradeep came back home after school. After repeatedly ringing the doorbell and knocking, when he received no response, he then sought help from a neighbour, who opened the door and found Neetu lying in a pool of blood inside the house.
Pradeep said he had left for school on Monday morning along with the couple's 17-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, while Neetu remained at home.
Speaking about the incident, he said the family had no known disputes with anyone and was shocked by the attack. He also said based on the initial inspection, no cash or valuables appeared to be missing, suggesting that robbery may not have been the motive.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team led by DSP Tarlochan Singh reached the spot. The area was secured, and a forensic investigation was launched to collect evidence.
