A man died, and two women were injured after a speeding Porsche crashed into their scooters near a petrol pump in Chandigarh’s Sector 4 on Monday night.
The Porsche was reportedly driving at a very high speed when it first hit two women riding an Activa scooter. It then collided with another Activa rider ahead.
According to eyewitnesses, the second scooter got stuck in the front of the luxury car and was dragged for a long distance before the Porsche lost control. The car then crashed into an electric pole, a traffic signboard, and finally a tree with great force.
The collision was so severe that the Activa scooter lodged in the Porsche’s engine was torn into two pieces. The rider, identified as Ankit from Nayagaon, died on the spot due to the impact. The two women, Soni and Gurleen, suffered serious leg injuries and were taken to PGI Hospital for treatment.
Police arrived at the scene, arrested the Porsche driver, and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered for reckless driving, negligence, and violating road safety rules.
Initial investigations show that the Porsche is registered to Sanjeev, a resident of Sector 21, Chandigarh. Authorities are now investigating whether overspeeding and reckless driving were the main causes of the accident.
