Srinagar’s Tulip Garden nears 3 lakh visitors amid weekend rush, with record footfall expected as tourism season begins in Kashmir.

With a growing number of visitors thronging the garden on weekends, the figures at Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar are likely to cross the 3 lakh mark today. The weekend rush increases nearly twice compared to normal days, officials at the garden say.

The number on weekends rises from “6,000 to 20,000” due to holidays, as local crowds arrive in large numbers on Saturdays and Sundays. The official visitor figure on Friday stood at 2.95 lakh, excluding the figures accumulated through online sales.

The garden was thrown open by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on March 16, 2026, with anticipation of more crowds coming to the garden and breaking previous years' records.

The opening of the Tulip Garden also marks the beginning of the tourism season in Kashmir, as snow starts to melt on tourist hotspots and lush green meadows start to reveal themselves to visitors with mesmerising beauty.

Officials said that the blooming of the roughly 1.8 million tulips is currently on display in the garden.

Official reports from the Directorate of Floriculture, Kashmir, provide the following breakdown of this season’s attendance
Total Footfall: 2.95 lakh visitors as of Friday, April 10, 2026, with First Day Attendance: Over 20,000 visitors on March 16.

First Week: 57,000 visitors (primarily based on offline ticket sales), while in the First 15 Days, 1.77 lakh visitors thronged the garden. So far, over 600 foreign tourists have visited within the first three weeks of opening.

Officials at the garden, including the Director of Floriculture Kashmir Mathoora Masoom, said that the administration is expecting record tourist footfall this year. Over 855,125 visitors thronged the garden during the 2025 season.
