The organisation’s inaugural conference is scheduled to take place on July 12 at 4 pm in Pollachi under Annamalai’s leadership, and has been titled the "Drug-Free Pollachi Awareness Conference."

Preparations for the maiden conference of "We The Leaders", the political organisation launched by former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai following his departure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have formally commenced with a traditional Bhoomi Pooja ceremony in Pollachi. The organisation’s inaugural conference is scheduled to take place on July 12 at 4 pm in Pollachi under Annamalai’s leadership, and has been titled the "Drug-Free Pollachi Awareness Conference."

As part of the event preparations, a Bhoomi Pooja was performed at the conference venue on the Pollachi-Coimbatore Road on Thursday. Hundreds of members and supporters attended the ceremony, during which the ceremonial foundation post, known as the Muhurtha Kaal, was installed to the sound of traditional conch shells, marking the formal start of arrangements at the site. The ceremony was led by Coimbatore district in-charge Vasanth Rajan, a former BJP functionary. Organisers noted that the newly launched organisation has seen a growing number of young people and former BJP members from various parts of Tamil Nadu joining its ranks in the run-up to the event.

This development comes roughly a month after Annamalai resigned from the BJP to launch his new political movement. On June 5, he stepped down from the BJP, citing differences with the party leadership over its political direction for Tamil Nadu, and announced that his new political outfit would contest the state’s next Assembly elections. Following his exit, Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Karu Nagarajan also resigned from the party to join Annamalai’s movement.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin subsequently accepted Annamalai's decision to resign from the party’s primary membership. Annamalai stated that he had informed the BJP leadership of his intention to step down months earlier but had continued with his organisational duties until the conclusion of the elections at the party's request. With his exit coming on the heels of the results of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, his move marks a change in the state's political atmosphere with responses coming from leaders belonging to different political parties. The conference scheduled at Pollachi will lay down the basic philosophy of the party.
