An 18-month-old girl was killed in a stray dog attack at K. Hanchinala Camp in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district on Wednesday, in an incident that has triggered shock and anger among local residents.
The deceased has been identified as Anam, daughter of Razakasab, a native of Hosapete in Vijayanagar district. According to the police, the child had just woken up and stepped out of her house when she was attacked by a pack of six to seven stray dogs.
Officials said the dogs dragged the toddler away and mauled her to death. According to the complaint filed by her parents, the child sustained severe injuries to her face, hands, legs and abdomen.
The incident has left the family devastated and the village in shock. Residents alleged that repeated complaints about the growing stray dog menace had gone unaddressed by the authorities. They claimed that several similar incidents causing injuries and fatalities had occurred in the district in the past.
Locals have demanded immediate action from the administration to control the stray dog population and prevent such incidents from recurring. The authorities are yet to issue a detailed response, even as concerns over public safety continue to grow in the region.
