More than 10 students of a government school in Himachal Pradesh have filed a complaint with the police, alleging that their physical-training instructor assaulted them.
The students went to the police station along with their parents and relatives. The police on Wednesday said a detailed inquiry would be carried out into the matter.
According to the complaint, the students were beaten, given harsh punishments, and even asked to bring money from their parents if they wanted to take part in a sports competition.
Several students broke down in tears when they spoke to mediapersons outside the police station. Videos of the scene have since gone viral on social media.
The parents and family members of the students demanded a fair and strict investigation into the incident. The teacher concerned could not be reached for comment.
