Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Tuesday that the next round of Subhadra Yojana payments will hit bank accounts by January 18. This phase is set to benefit over 4.57 lakh women, with the state government direct-transferring a total of ₹250 crore. The disbursement is specifically designed to catch up with those who had been stuck in procedural limbo or were recently added to the rolls.
Breaking down the numbers, about 1.78 lakh women are new to the scheme and will receive their very first installment. More significantly, the government is clearing the backlog for over 2.55 lakh women who missed out on the first and second rounds; they will now receive both installments in one go. Additionally, the list includes 24,018 women whose applications were previously flagged but have now been cleared following a grievance redressal process.
Deputy CM Parida reiterated that this timeline aligns with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s recent commitments. She explained that the goal of this bulk transfer is to ensure that no eligible woman is left behind due to verification delays. For many of these beneficiaries, the January 18 credit will serve as a significant lump-sum payment to make up for the months they were excluded from the scheme.
