Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab over alleged paper leak incidents. He accused the ruling party of failing to curb irregularities and questioned its claims that no leaks had taken place.
Speaking to reporters, Badal said several recruitment examination papers had allegedly been leaked in Punjab under the AAP government. He said he was surprised by the government's denial of the allegations and claimed that reports of corruption and other illegal activities were emerging from different parts of the state.
Badal alleged that candidates were claiming question papers had been leaked in exchange for money. He further accused the AAP leadership of allowing such practices to continue and said the SAD would hold a meeting on Friday to discuss the issue and decide its future course of action.
Punjab Congress president and MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also raised concerns over the alleged paper leak cases and criticised the state government over the matter.
Warring claimed that the growing anger among students and job aspirants could have political repercussions for the AAP leadership. Referring to recent protests, he said the demand for a fair and transparent recruitment process was gaining support across the country.
He alleged that multiple examination papers had been leaked during the tenure of the Bhagwant Mann government, affecting lakhs of candidates. Warring said the Chief Minister should respond to the allegations, apologise to affected aspirants and take action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, a protest outside the Aam Aadmi Party office in Delhi turned tense earlier in the day, with BJP workers and Delhi Police personnel reportedly clashing during demonstrations over the alleged Punjab paper leak issue.
