Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said he paid all the expenses for his London visit, which was for his daughter's college admission.
Sukhu told the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Thursday that MLAs are allowed to take foreign trips at government expense, but he chose not to. He said he spent his own money and has disclosed all payments. "My London visit for my daughter's admission was personal, and the entire expenditure was borne by me," he said in a statement in the House.
BJP MLA Vipin Singh Parmar had asked a question about the chief minister's visit. It was included in the day's agenda, but the question could not be taken up as Parmar was not present in the House.
Sukhu said he wanted to answer the question but the Speaker, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, ruled that he could give a statement after the question hour.
"I am making this statement because a lot is being said on social media about my London visit," he said. The CM had travelled to London in September.
