Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has instructed the state health department to create an app that allows online payments for medical tests in government hospitals, officials said on Tuesday.
Once the app is launched, people will not have to wait in long queues to pay for tests. They will also be able to access smooth and quality healthcare services, he said in a statement.
Sukhu added that people will also be able to book appointments with doctors at different hospitals through the app.
Sukhu directed the health department to work with the Digital Technologies and Governance Department and develop the app within a month. The aim is to provide convenient and cashless services, a government spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the state government is carrying out several reforms in the health sector. Hospitals and medical colleges are being equipped with modern machinery so that citizens do not have to travel outside the state for treatment.
