Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday visited Serthi village in the Dharampur Assembly constituency of Mandi district to take stock of the damage caused by the recent spell of heavy rainfall.
The region has suffered extensive damage to infrastructure and private property following persistent downpours in the past few days.
At least 10 bodies have been recovered in Mandi district, while 34 individuals remain missing across various areas following cloudburst and flash flood incidents that struck on Monday night.
Accompanied by Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar and senior district officials, CM Sukhu was briefed in detail about the ground situation in Dharampur and nearby areas. Officials presented an assessment of the destruction caused by the continuous rains in the region and apprised him of the immediate requirements of affected communities.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to ramp up relief and rehabilitation efforts on a war footing. He stressed the need for swift and well-coordinated action to ensure timely assistance reaches every affected family. “There should be no delay in providing help to those impacted. All departments must work together to ensure effective relief,” he said.
“Necessary instructions have been given to the concerned officials to intensify the relief operations. We are committed to ensuring that every affected person receives timely assistance,” the Chief Minister said this while interacting with officials and locals.
Sukhu also stressed the need for continued vigilance as the weather department has already predicted more rainfall in the coming days. He assured the local residents that the government is taking all necessary steps to prevent further damage and is fully prepared to respond swiftly to any emergency situation.
“All departments are on high alert and coordinated efforts are underway to ensure smooth execution of relief work. We aim to provide quick and comprehensive support to the affected families,” Sukhu said.
The government has deployed resources at all levels and is making continuous efforts to restore normalcy in the affected regions. Relief camps have been established, and essential supplies — including food, shelter, and medical assistance — are being provided to those impacted by the disaster.
