The Haryana government has transferred IPS officer Maqsood Ahmed, who was serving as Faridabad DCP (NIT), with immediate effect. According to official orders, he has now been posted as SP, Police Headquarters, Panchkula.
The transfer comes days after a swing collapsed at the Surajkund fairgrounds in Faridabad, killing an on-duty police inspector during rescue operations and injuring 12 others. Two individuals were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident, while the Opposition blamed the tragedy on government negligence.
Along with the IPS officer, the state government also transferred Haryana Police Service officer Suresh Kumar. He was serving as DSP, 2nd battalion, India Reserve Battalion, Nuh.
Kumar has now been posted as DSP, Hodal, in Palwal district, against a vacant post, according to the orders. The transfer orders for both officers were issued by the state government on Monday.
