The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday launched a search operation after specific intel inputs suggested suspected Pakistani drone movement along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The Pakistani drone was reportedly seen hovering over Karalian village in Ramgarh sector at 6.30 am before disappearing, they said.
They added that BSF immediately launched a search operation in the village and adjoining areas to ensure there is no airdropping of weapons, tech equipment and drugs from across the border.
The search was going on in the area when the reports last came in.
Earlier on Saturday, IG BSF Ashok Yadav said terrorists were waiting on the launch pads across the border to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley.
“There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. There are still about two months to go, and the chances of infiltration are there till November because they know they will have fewer chances over the next six months.”
“There is a presence of terrorists on the launch pads across the LoC opposite our AOR (area of responsibility) in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. They are waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate, but the security is very tight. Sometimes they wait for inclement weather before making a move. So, the attempts are always being made, but we are prepared and alert for any eventuality,” he added.
