Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh on Monday quit the party during a leadership fight in Telangana unit of BJP. The move came just after media reports indicated that N Ramchander Rao is all set to become BJP's new president of Telangana unit. Singh, in a letter addressed to G Kishan Reddy, President of BJP Telangana unit, stated that the selection of Ramchander Rao as BJP state president was a 'shock and disappointment' to him.
"According to media reports, Shri Ramchander Rao will be the new BJP State President for Telangana. This is a shock and disappointment, not only to me, but to lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have remained loyal to the party in each rise and fall," Singh stated within the letter he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
"There are many capable senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs within our state who have tirelessly worked for the growth of BJP and who have the strength, credibility, and connect to lead the party forward," he added.
However, he added he would remain fully committed to the Hindutva ideology and "continue to stand with the Hindu community."

"While I am moving away from the party, I am committed to the ideology of Hindutva and the protection of our Dharma and the citizens of Goshamahal. I will raise my voice and be with the Hindu people even more strongly," he added.
Thakur Raja Singh, who is now an MLA from the Goshamahal Assembly constituency, has a reputation for delivering controversial speeches and has been prone to criminal cases on numerous occasions. Earlier this year in April, two cases were filed against the Telangana MLA for using unparliamentary language and causing criminal intimidation to the police during a Ram Navami procession.
