Targeted killing bid foiled; three held

Police arrested three alleged gang members in Bathinda.


Punjab Police on Tuesday said it had foiled a targeted killing plan in Bathinda with the arrest of three individuals allegedly linked to the Arsh Dalla gang.

 

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the Counter Intelligence unit of Bathinda, working in coordination with Bathinda Police, nabbed the accused and recovered four pistols, four magazines and 26 live cartridges.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as Kuldeep Singh of Gill Patti in Bathinda, who is currently residing in Canada, Gurwinder Singh of Kotshamir village in Bathinda, and Gagandeep Singh of Bhokhra village in Bathinda.

 

Police said the seized weapons included a Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, a .30 bore pistol and a .32 bore pistol. A car without a registration number was also recovered from the accused.

 

The DGP said initial findings suggested that the accused were planning to carry out a targeted killing. He added that Kuldeep had recently come from Canada to execute the planned attack.

 

Senior Superintendent of Police Bathinda Amneet Kondal said the accused revealed during interrogation that they were involved in an ongoing gang rivalry.
She said a case has been registered at the Thermal police station and further probe is underway to trace both forward and backward linkages of the accused.

 

Assistant Inspector General, Counter Intelligence Bathinda, Avneet Kaur Sidhu said the police acted on specific intelligence inputs and nabbed the accused during naka checking on Goniana Road near Sucha Singh Nagar.

 

Police said a case has been registered under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
