Jammu and Kashmir Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Saturday accused the United States and Israel of committing genocidal crimes against Iran by systematically killing innocent civilians with complete disregard for human life.  He described the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran as “savagery that needs to be stopped as soon as possible."

Tarigami condemned world leaders for their “deafening silence” while witnessing unfolding war crimes, calling the Israel-US nexus “worrisome for the Middle East and deeply troubling for the global order and world peace”.  He warned that the ongoing conflict would leave the region completely destabilised, severely impact international peace, and undermine global economic stability.

In a strongly worded post on X, he condemned the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as “US-Israel savagery” that has “reached its extreme”, describing the attack as “barbaric” and “absolutely reprehensible”.  He said, “I am not concerned about Israel’s unjust war on Iran—we know their agenda; they want the war that helps their cause. However, I am disappointed by the silence of the leadership from our country. We need to speak before it’s too late and too little.”

Tarigami also criticised the registration of FIRs against protesters and mourners in Kashmir, calling them “unnecessary and unjust”. He demanded the immediate release of those recently arrested for protesting against Khamenei’s death.

While affirming the right to peaceful protests, he stressed that police must firmly deal with any anti-peace elements to maintain order.
