The Assam government has inked a significant Tata Groupwith the Tata Group to construct a Rs 120-crore five-star hotel in the Hathikuli tea garden, Kaziranga.
This collaboration aims to enhance the state's tourism appeal, particularly following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit earlier this year, which saw a notable increase in tourist numbers.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, present at the signing event, stressed on the importance of the project in boosting Assam's tourism sector.
"This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of promoting tourism in the region. We are committed to attracting more tourists to our state," Sarma stated.
The proposed five-star hotel is expected to offer a world-class experience, encouraging tourists to extend their stay in Assam.
Sarma highlighted his long-standing request to the Tata Group for such a development in Kaziranga, noting the need for quality accommodation to encourage longer visits.
"Currently, tourists often stay just a day or overnight. Our goal is to have them spend at least two days here," he added.
Assuring the Tata Group of the state government's full support, Sarma expressed confidence in the project's timely completion.
The hotel is projected to create over 200 direct employment opportunities, significantly enhancing Kaziranga's luxury hospitality offerings.
Additionally, the Tata Group plans to establish a Taj Gateway Hotel between Guwahati and Jagiroad, further expanding its footprint in Assam's hospitality sector.
