The Rajasthan government has suspended two instructors of a government school located in the Kota district for their alleged involvement in activities related to religious conversion, including love jihad, and links to banned terrorist outfits.

Acting on the directive of the Education Minister Madan Dilawar, a suspension order for Mirza Mujahid and Firoz Khan, teachers in the school, were issued on Thursday night.

An order to conduct a probe was issued by the department, after the Sarva Hindu Samaj in Sangod block sent a letter to the state education minister. The memorandum claimed that religious conversions and love jihad operations have been taking place in the school since 2019.

The letter, further, states that an FIR, too, had been filed on this matter at the Sangod Police Station. However, no action was taken.

It is alleged in the letter that a Hindu girl’s name was changed to a Muslim name in the school’s records. Owing to this, some Muslim youngsters kidnapped her and she is yet to be found.

In a video statement published on Friday, Dilawar said, “Action has been taken against three instructors [another teacher, Shabana, has also been placed under scrutiny] of a government senior secondary school in Khajuri Odpur village, Sangod. If their crime is proven, we would terminate them. For further investigation, all three have been shifted to Bikaner.”

For instance, at a senior secondary school in the same village, a girl’s religion was listed as ‘Islam’ on her transfer certificate even though she was Hindu.

Dilawar, further, added: “Incidents of religious conversion, conspiracy and ‘love jihad’ are being frequently reported from the said place. It has also come to our attention, Hindu ladies are compelled to say namaz. We will take actions to stop forced religious conversions.”

‘Love jihad’ is a term coined by the Right-wing groups to accuse Muslim males for attempting to convert Hindu women to Islam through marriage.
