Indore dispute over Airbnb penthouses turns deadly as woman killed after car rams residents; father-son duo arrested for murder.

A dispute over the use of penthouse properties turned deadly in Indore, where a software engineer mother was killed, and others were injured after a car was allegedly driven into residents during a confrontation in a housing society.

The incident took place in the MR-11 locality under the Lasudia police station, at Sagar Township in Shiv Vatika. According to police, Kuldeep Chaudhary and his son Mohit Chaudhary had purchased two penthouses in the society and were reportedly using them for rental accommodation through Airbnb—an arrangement that had drawn strong objections from other residents.

On Wednesday, when the father-son duo arrived at the society, residents opposed their entry, leading to a heated altercation. Police said that amid the confrontation, the accused allegedly drove their car at high speed into the premises, hitting several people in its path.

Two residents were critically injured in the incident. One of them, Shampa Pathak, a software engineer with Infosys, succumbed to her injuries during treatment at a hospital. Shampa had recently moved into the society with her husband and two children earlier this month.

The incident has left the residential community in shock and mourning, particularly as the victim had only recently settled into her new home.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials are examining CCTV footage from the society premises to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya said the violence stemmed from an ongoing dispute over the use of the penthouse properties.

“Both the father and son are involved in the act. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to ensure strict action,” he said.

The accused, Kuldeep and his son Mohit, were arrested on Thursday. Police confirmed that both have been booked on charges of murder, and further investigation is in progress.
