A teenage girl ended her life by jumping in front of a Vande Bharat train near Ganaur, Sonipat, after allegedly being harassed by a young man from her village, police said on Friday.
Following a complaint from the girl's father, the youth and two of his friends have been charged with abetment of suicide. One of them has been arrested, according to the police.
“The girl jumped in front of the train on Wednesday. Her family claims she was harassed by a village youth, which led her to take this extreme step,” said Joginder Singh, Station House Officer of the Government Railway Police in Sonipat.
The three accused have been booked under relevant legal provisions, including abetment of suicide. The girl, a Class 12 student, was identified by her family after the incident, police added.
