In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old boy allegedly murdered his elder brother, sister-in-law, and their three-year-old son while they were asleep at their residence in Gorakhpur district in the early hours of Monday, police said. The incident occurred around 3:00 am in Balua Buzurg village, under the jurisdiction of Bansgaon police station. The victims have been identified as Amit Gupta, his wife Ranjana, and their young son, Shreyansh Gupta.
According to police officials, the three victims were sleeping in the same room when the accused allegedly attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon. The teenager’s parents were asleep in another room at the time of the incident.
Upon receiving information, senior police officials, including the SSP and SP (South), rushed to the scene along with a forensic team. During the investigation, the bodies were found inside a locked room. The accused was detained from an upstairs room, where police reportedly recovered the blood-stained weapon.
Superintendent of Police (South) Dinesh Puri stated that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. An FIR has been registered at Bansgaon police station based on a complaint filed by the victims’ father, Harilal Gupta. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.
Preliminary investigation suggests that a family dispute, possibly related to a family-run shop, may have triggered the crime. Police sources indicated that the accused allegedly felt neglected and believed his father was giving more attention to his elder brother, who had recently taken over management of the shop.
Authorities have stated that the exact motive is yet to be established, and further investigation is ongoing.
