A teenage boy allegedly sexually assaulted a three-year-old girl who lived in his neighbourhood in Raipur of Chhattisgarh, the police said on Tuesday.
According to an official, the 13-year-old boy was taken into custody after the incident was reported. The incident happened on Monday outside the Pandri police station.
The official added that the victim had gone to the boy's house in the afternoon to play when the accused lured her with a chocolate and raped her.
The accused dropped her outside her house when she started crying.
The official stated that when the girl’s mother asked her why she was crying, the girl told her about the incident.
The girl’s parents went to the police, and filed a complaint against the accused.
The police also confirmed that FIR was registered against the boy on the complaint of the victim’s parents’ complain and the accused has been taken into custody and booked under Sections 64 (rape) and 65 (2) (rape on a female under 12 years of age) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl was taken to a hospital for medical examination and further probe into the case was underway.
