Telangana BJP president N Ramachander Rao on Wednesday hits out at the Congress following Minister Priyank Kharge's claim against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he termed the parent organisation of the BJP "anti-Hindu, undemocratic and non-secular."

Addressing the media, Rao took offence of Kharge's remark. He said: "Congress leader Priyank Kharge in Karnataka has stated that if the Congress returns at the Centre, they will prohibit the RSS." This is the mindset of the Congress Party. This is why their governments are anti-Hindu. In Karnataka, anti-Hinduism has been evoked by the Congress Party. Hindu organisations are being stifled. They (Congress) are non-secular and undemocratic.

Earlier, the saffron party retaliated against the leader and said that he was "threatening bans" as he thought the condition of the country was such as it was in 1975. The Karnataka wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge too with a post on X. Asserting that Kalaburagi, which has been "governed" by Kharge for over 50 years, is still one of the most "underdeveloped" regions of Karnataka.

"Priyank Kharge, a minister solely because of his father's proximity, is now threatening bans like it's 1975 all over again. The Congress's so-called 'President/High Command' Mallikarjun Kharge dominated the Kalaburagi region for fifty years.

Yet it's still one of the most backward regions of Karnataka", the X post claimed. The BJP also accused Priyank and Mallikarjun Kharge of having chances to develop Karnataka but spent their time "pursuing fantasies" like banning RSS. The X post claimed that Priyank Kharge believes he can divert the attention of Karnataka people by making such statements, but he has "failed" in his effort.

"Mini Kharge and his father had so much to give but spent their time pursuing fantasies such as banning the RSS. And if he thinks that such statements will divert the focus of Kannadigas from the Multi-Crore Housing Committee scam, he has failed. Just like he did in first PUC", the X post claimed. Priyank Kharge on Tuesday criticised the RSS for their General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's statement calling for reconsideration of the words 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
