Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced that the state government would soon introduce a comprehensive legislation aimed at ensuring the welfare and social security of gig workers.
The announcement came in response to a letter from Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi who lauded the state’s proactive steps and also advised to sought public consultations to enhance the legislation.
In his letter to Reddy, Gandhi praised the ongoing steps taken by the government in terms of socio-economic, educational, employment, political and caste survey in Telangana.
Reddy highlighted the Congress’s commitment to protecting workers in contractual roles. He cited the Congress manifesto’s to enhance social security for gig workers.
He underscored the efforts taken by Rajasthan, where the Congress-led government became the first in the country to legislate for their welfare.
