Amit Raj Sinha, who was named as the second accused in the initial FIR, is one of six company officials facing charges related to the blast and subsequent fire.

Six months after a catastrophic explosion tore through a pharmaceutical plant in Telangana, the legal fallout has reached the top of the corporate ladder. On Saturday, police arrested Amit Raj Sinha, the Managing Director and CEO of Sigachi Industries, in connection with the June 30 disaster in Sangareddy district that claimed 54 lives.

Sinha, who was named as the second accused in the initial FIR, is one of six company officials facing charges related to the blast and subsequent fire. The accident remains one of the deadliest industrial disasters in the region's recent history, leaving dozens of others with severe injuries and raising serious questions about safety protocols at the manufacturing site.

Following his arrest, Sinha was presented before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. Sigachi Industries confirmed the development on Sunday, acknowledging that the FIR was registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The company stated that it is cooperating with the legal proceedings but also noted that it would be defending its rights as the case moves through the court system.

In their official statement, the company emphasized that the matter is currently sub-judice but reiterated their commitment to supporting the families of the victims. "We continue to stand by those impacted by this unfortunate incident," the company said, though it refrained from commenting further on the specific negligence allegations cited by the police. For now, the focus remains on the judicial process as authorities investigate whether systemic safety failures led to the tragic loss of life.
