Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, addressing the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 on Monday, declared an aggressive economic target, that is, he wants the state to contribute 10 per cent to India's national GDP by 2047.
He pointed out that while Telangana accounts for approximately 2.9 per cent of India's population, it already contributes around five per cent of the national GDP. The CM also set specific goals to make Telangana a USD one trillion economy by 2034 and expand that to a USD three trillion economy by 2047.
To achieve this rapid growth, Reddy said his government plans to replicate the economic model of China's Guang-Dong province, noting that the province has achieved the highest investment and growth globally over the past two decades. Having completed its first ten years, Telangana is now aiming to become India’s most developed state.
The state government's strategy involves dividing Telangana into three distinct economic zones based on sectors: the CURE (Core Urban Region Economy) for services, the PURE (Peri Urban Region Economy) for manufacturing, and the RARE (Rural Agriculture Region Economy) for agriculture, making it the first state in India to adopt such a clear division.
Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy, also present at the summit, assured the audience of the Centre's full commitment to working with the state for its development, emphasising that the Government of India sees Telangana playing a vital role in achieving the goal of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated the event. It was attended by prominent figures including Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and numerous corporate leaders.
